For the first time ever, H&H Webranking has included Portugal in its yearly survey. The 6 largest companies in Portugal, measured by market capitalization, are included in the ranking. Portugal Telecom wins the H&H Webranking Portugal with a score of 51.25 out of maxium 100. On second place we find the energy giant EDP (49.75) and Banco Espírito Santo (45.5) takes the bronze.

Portugal is ranked number 15 out of the 20 countries in the Webranking 2008. The spread of the results, within the country, range from 30.5 to 51.25 points, with an average of 43,25 points.

Challanges for Portuguese companies

Portuguese companies in general are lacking information in almost all of the sections in the H&H Webranking survey, if you compare to other countries included. Contact Information and Employer Branding are areas where Portuguese companies lags behind the most.

Of all the 11 different areas in the survey, Corporate Governance is the section where Portuguese companies manage to receive good score, Portugal is placed 7 in Europe.

Portuguese companies do not, unfortunately, use their corporate websites as their main communication channel in the same degree as many companies on more mature markets do.
