The telecommunication company Telenor takes top slot in the 2009 H&H Webranking survey for Norwegian corporate websites. Second place goes to the energy giant StatoilHydro and the aluminum supplier Norsk Hydro comes third.
“Telenor’s website is nicely branded and offer clear and thorough information about the business operations and market outlook, information that often is scarce on other websites“, says Marcus Eriksson, head of H&H Webranking.
Behind the Nordic countries
The 18 largest companies in Norway, measured by market capitalization, are included in the ranking. Norway is ranked number 6 out of the 21 countries in the H&H Webranking 2009, same position as last year. Despite this, Norwegian companies still find themselves below the Nordic average and behind their Swedish, Danish and Finnish competitors.
The survey shows that Norwegian companies in general are good at communicating financial information on their websites. Most of the Norwegian website also offers a lot of functions that helps the website visitor find the right information.
Challenges for Norwegian companies
Challenges remain in information aimed to journalist, an area where much work can be done in order to capture their interest.
“We believe that the press office do not utilize all the benefits that online communication can offer. The press section often lacks highly requested information such as videos, speeches and fact sheets. The experience within the press departments are often high which makes it is a pity that the press section isn’t used better online”, says Marcus Eriksson.
Social Media
The Norwegian companies that receive high score in this area are Marine Harvest, StatoilHydro Tandberg and Telenor.
